A second Airbus A319 aircraft from Volotea has arrived at Ireland West Airport for part-out and scrap, according to a report from German aviation website Skyliner Aviation. The aircraft, registered EC-NBD, landed on November 29 at 16:40 local time, having flown directly from Verona, Italy, using flight number ‘VOE802’.
The A319, which carries the distinctive “Mamma, Arrivo Subito! / I’ll be home for dinner” titles, has an interesting history. Delivered in February 2003, it was originally acquired by Canadian carrier Skyservice Airlines under the registration C-GTDS, leased from ILFC. The airframe, now 21.9 years old, was later transferred to Volotea, where it has been serving for several years.
This arrival marks the second Volotea A319 to be retired at Ireland West Airport proceeded by sistership EC-MTB msn 1684. The Airbus A319 phase out reflects the ongoing trend of airlines retiring older aircraft models as they modernize their fleets with new generation Airbus A220-300 and Embraer 190-E2 aircraft.
