Cork Airport marked a significant milestone on December 20, celebrating its three millionth passenger of 2024. The lucky traveller, Dr. Muhammad Asim, arrived on Ryanair flight FR3732 from Edinburgh, which landed just before 12:30 PM. Upon arrival, Dr. Asim was warmly welcomed by airport management and presented with a bottle of champagne and a luxury hamper from Cork Airport Duty Free to commemorate the achievement.

daa CEO Kenny Jacobs stated “What a year it has been for Cork Airport! Breaking the three million passenger mark today is the cherry on top of a brilliant 2024, which included several great new route announcements, solid growth in passenger traffic, innovative sustainability initiatives, the opening of a new café/wine bar, and acknowledging the significant contribution the airport makes to the Irish economy. Cork Airport is the fastest-growing airport in Ireland, and I’m extremely proud of the great work that the team in Cork are doing in driving that growth. Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an even busier and better year for Cork Airport, and it will continue to enjoy the fullest support of daa Group in pursuing that ambitious growth strategy.”

2024 has been a historic year for Ireland’s fastest-growing airport, with the year-to-date marking the busiest international passenger traffic in the airport’s 63-year history. Growth has been particularly strong across various European markets, with notable increases in traffic to Spain (up 20%), France (19%), Portugal (19%), the Netherlands (15%), Poland (38%), and Germany (13%).

New routes launched this year, including year-round services to Brussels Charleroi and Glasgow, along with seasonal routes to Rhodes and Zadar, played a pivotal role in reaching the three million passenger milestone.

Cork Airport’s growth also reflects its vital contribution to the Irish economy, supporting over 12,000 jobs and generating more than €1 billion in economic impact.
